The WORDS of Christ

Source

John 1.1-5
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Why are the words of God so important;

His word is so powerful that anything you ask He will grant to you.
His words are your guiding light.
In the beginning was the word and God commanded that let there be light and there was.
His word is the light that delivers from darkness;
Jhn 1:5
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it

Why the emphasis on the Words of God?

1) This is because He is the strong foundation-1 Cor 3.10-11;
 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.

2) Christ is the sure foundation that God laid.;
           So this is what the Sovereign LORD says:
“See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone,
a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation;
the one who relies on it
will never be stricken with panic.

3) His word makes you clean. John 15.3;
You are already clean because of what I have told you

4) For a stronger backing and foundation to help build a higher tower. Jer 15.16

Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts- Col 3.16

Rest (In The Lord)

Source
Are we truly experiencing this rest?

Matt 11.28;
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Waiting on the Lord brings renewal of strenght therefore in order to receive the Lord, we need to wait on Him.

Psalms 27:14;
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD
While waiting on the Lord, the main priority is to receive the Lord

John 1.12;
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, He gave the right to become children of God.

Romans 8.17;
Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory

How can we get to the position of son-ship;

The difference between receiving and believing him is that some are servants and some are sons.
  • If you believe him alone without receiving him is that you are entitles to being a servant
  • If you believe and receive him then that entitles you to being a son.
Gal 4.7;
So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.
Waiting on the Lord makes you a son therefore you are entitled to everything that belongs to the father.

In this moment of waiting, lets our strength be renewed by moving closer to him. Do not be tired or weary because the renewal of strength encourages you to continue.

Psalms 24.1;
The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it
Luke 12.15
Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions
Mark 7.26-28;
But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practise is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” 28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching.

Waiting on the Lord

Source
Waiting on the Lord is a time to catch up with God because sometimes or most times we are far away from God.

Benefits of Waiting on God;

1. Waiting on the Lord is to catch up with God

Isaiah 40.30-31;
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

2.Waiting to should make us know the Lord more

3.Our knowledge of God makes us strong and allow us to do exploits

Dan 11.32;
With flattery he will corrupt those who have violated the covenant, but the people who know their God will firmly resist him.

4. Fasting and Praying without a comprehensive knowledge that arises out of fellowship with Him that puts us in right standing with Him.

James 5.16;
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Matt 6.3;
But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

Heb 11.6;
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

2 Tim 2.15;
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

Phil 4.6;
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Knowing God is a full package and when you are strong, the enemy cannot defeat you.
Fasting brings you into a spirit of intimacy with God.

The Next Level

Source
A tree can make a difference in a forest.

To move to the next level;
1. You need to be unsatisfied with where you are at the moment
2. You need to have a sense that there are more things to be conquered
3. You need to have a 'keep trying over and over again' attitude.

Luke 5.5;
And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

1 Chr. 12.32;
And of the Children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hunded; and all their bethren were at their commandment.
People who are never tired of achieveing always move to the next level

Characteristics of people who move to the next level;
1. They know God in terms of understanding and being used to Him fully

Joshua 14.14;
Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the Lord God of Israel.

Dan 11.32b;
But the people that know their God shall be strong and do exploits.

2. Be able to submit to service and mentorship

Romans 13.1-2;
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God; the powers that are ordained of God.
Whosoever therefre resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God; and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

Numbers 12.1-10
1 Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married, for he had married a Cushite woman. 2 And they said, “Has the LORD indeed spoken only through Moses? Has he not spoken through us also?” And the LORD heard it. 3 Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who were on the face of the earth. 4 And suddenly the LORD said to Moses and to Aaron and Miriam, “Come out, you three, to the tent of meeting.” And the three of them came out. 5 And the LORD came down in a pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the tent and called Aaron and Miriam, and they both came forward. 6 And he said, “Hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the LORD make myself known to him in a vision; I speak with him in a dream. 7 Not so with my servant Moses. He is faithful in all my house. 8 With him I speak mouth to mouth, clearly, and not in riddles, and he beholds the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” 9 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them, and he departed.
10 When the cloud removed from over the tent, behold, Miriam was leprous,[a] like snow. And Aaron turned toward Miriam, and behold, she was leprous.

3. You must be a man of good report.

Prov 13.3;
He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life; but he that openenth his lips shall have destruction.

4. You must not be in a hurry to move to the next level

Prov 29.20;
Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

Have a great week ahead

Best Wishes

Running the race and Finishing with Gold

Source
Today's sermon is about running and finishing the set race with gold;
Before we were born, a race had been set for us to run. Everybody has an individual and specific race to run. How everyone runs their race differently. For example, the way a Pastor to be ordained will run his race will be different from the way a General Overseer will run his race as the gravity of both responsibilities (race) are different.

Jer 1: 4-5;

4 The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

In order to run the race,  you need to understand the race that has been set for you. You need to get the clarity that will lead to the focus on the counsel of the Lord.

Proverbs 29.18;

18Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
You need to discipline yourself for the race, if you don't know where you are going it is difficult to focus on the race set for you.
Do you know what the vision (race) before you is? What is the vision (race) before you that is worth the price?

You cannot run a race with heavy weight, it is a lose-lose situation to run a race with weight. To run a race, you need to let go of heavy weights.
You need to run the race with patience and endurance. This helps to keep the focus on the goal.
Distraction can also lead to lose of focus. Avoid every distraction possible. Place your focus on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
Heb 12.2;
2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

In running the race this year, our focus should be that 'what is the verdict of God on your life by the end of 2012?
Seek the face of the Lord to know the race that He has set before you.
Pray to the Lord that this year, 'You will not run in vain the race concerning every area of my life', 'The verdict of the Lord will be sweet to hear by the end of year'.
Have a blessed week and God bless

The Right Side.

The Right Side...
Why the right side?
-It is where you belong
-It is the side to acquire your desires
-It is the place of expectations

It is not activity but productivity that determines success.
You have to be on God's side which is the right side because that is the best place to be.
He will inform you and guide you whenever you want to do anything because you are on the right side, His side.
Putting all your trust in Him will help put you on the right side because He will give you the greatest confidence in life.
By being on His side, He will fight your battles for you and bless you and curse those who curse you.

-Gen 12.3;
And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who [fn]curses you I will [fn]curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed."

Update on Night of Mercy and A Happy New Year!

Dearly Loved,

It is with great pleasure and joy that we at Christ Church Leeds inform you that the Night of Mercy was a success. It was on the 16th of December 2011 and we had various ministers of God come from around the UK to come bless the Lord with us.
Pastor Hamzat from RCCG Manchester, Pastor Dasaolu from Foursquare Church Leeds, Pastor V. Omonedo from Jesus House London, Sam Opeche and Pastor Badmus were all around with us on that wonderful night.
Right from the begining, it was a promising programme and the Lord in His infinite mercy did show us mercy.
We are ever grateful to the Almighty God who has brought us thus far. We give Him all the glory.
We will be having the next Night of Mercy in March 2012. We will give you more information on the arrangements as soon as we can.

We also thank God for bringing us thus far. He is ever faithful. We thank Him for bringing us into year 2012. Its not by our power or understanding but by His precious will and spirit. All the glory be to God in the highest.
With best wishes from us at Christ Church Leeds, we'd like to say have a Happy New Year! We look forward to welcoming you.
